Thaifoon

For all us Salt Lake City locals, Juan and I tried out Thaifoon yesterday after hearing about a few people who love it.

First disclaimer, Juan and I do not like curry, we hated the beloved Bombay House here in Provo (indian food). Second disclaimer, I have a very strong smeller, always have, and if smells don't sit with me right, it's over.

We didn't like it. I ordered the Evil Jungle Princess chicken, and my first few tastes were very well-received. Different, good taste, refreshing almost. But within minutes I was sick of it, almost as if it were too much. Juan ordered Honey Chicken, hated the breading so ate rice and lo mein the rest of the meal. We had tons of leftovers and gave them to my mother on the way home.

Now we can add Thai food to the list of cuisines we do not like. The dishes were beautiful and the atmosphere was nice, located at the Gateway. Also, my extreme love for PF Chang's may have cast a dark shadow over this whole experience, as I spent the whole time comparing.

Sami's dress, Red Mango, Benjamin

Besides the Twilight fiasco Friday night, we had a fantastic weekend. Saturday my sister Heather came down from Tooele with her 2 kids. We left her 5 year old boy with Juan while us girls went shopping for a baptism dress for Sami. Juan took Griffin to the Nickelcade and they had a blast, Griffin having to get enough tickets to buy enough gifts for himself and Sami. That's a sweet brother. Heather, Sami, and I went to a few stores and she found a dress she loved, which also happened to be the one her dad knew she would love. So cute, she said, "he knows me". Heather I hope you're posting that story in detail on your blog.

We stopped in at a new place in Orem Red Mango. It is frozen yogurt with a very refreshing taste and to our pleasant surprise, super low-cal and nonfat. I have been craving it ever since. Because it's healthy, I guess they can charge more because it was slightly pricey. We ordered a medium to go and packed it up in a cooler with ice and headed to...

American Fork Hospital to visit my dear sister-in-law who just had her 5th baby Benjamin. He is so sweet and precious. We visited for a while and had so much fun just chatting and taking turns holding the baby. I love days filled with family!
Benjamin, Griffin, Samantha

Juan just loves smiling for cameras.

I gave Sami a pair of my many sunglasses. She informed me, Cami I don't know if I like these, they are very big. Honesty.

Griff got a hold of the camera for a while and came up with this picture that makes me laugh.

I'm not a Twilight fanatic

This weekend Twilight was released on DVD and I liked the movie and thought, yeah I'll add it to my DVD collection.

Friday during work I read about how Macey's grocery stores (random, yes) were doing Twilight DVD release parties. So what do I do, go home and convince Juan to go to Macey's with me at 11:45 pm. I like to people watch at this stuff. We drive to Macey's and see no signs for the big blast so we decided to walk around the inside perimeter of the store. As we're getting to the end of the round, we see a group of 4 people gathered around a Macey's worker who is bouncing a bouncy ball. They were wearing Twilight t-shirts. That was the party folks. Needless to say, Juan and I were too cool for that and walked quickly by and left the store without even waiting the few minutes for the DVD to come out at midnight!

Then this morning I get a text from my sister Ginger asking if I've bought the dvd yet. No. She tells me Target has a 3 disc special and the 3rd disc is an iTunes download. That would be cool to have it on my iPod, so I tell her I'll probably go get it this afternoon. She tells me I better call ahead because out in Boston the 2 Targets by her were sold out and she had to drive 30 minutes away to get her copy (she told me to blog about this, but she's sounding like just as big of a nerd). So this being Provo I panic, if they're sold out in Boston, they're definitely sold out here. I look up on Target online, the Orem store has some available. I call Target so they can hold it for me. I'm talking to the guy in Electronics and he says, when are you going to come? Because as of a few minutes ago we have 600 copies. I felt like a big nerd, like I was some hysterical 13 year old making sure I would have my copy of Twilight. Ha ha, it makes me laugh.

Disney On Ice

Here is my history with Disney On Ice, last time I went I peed my pants. I was 5 years old at a birthday party and I remember being so embarrassed and horrified. Looking back, it was a birthday party with a bunch of 5 year olds, of course someone was going to pee their pants!

This time Juan and I decided to go last second, and it was so much fun! Ever since we went to Disneyland last year, Juan loves Disney as much as I always have. Juan and I were the only ones there without kids, but we didn't mind! The show was bright and super entertaining with the ice skating moves. We spent the rest of the day in Salt Lake and on the way home stopped in to visit my sister-in-law Rachelle who is scheduled to have her baby in less than a week!

On a side note I decided I have lasted 3 weeks on my spending freeze so informed Juan today I would be ending that. He said ok but first I had to go on my blog and tell everyone I have given up. Well here I am with no shame! Seriously I have NON-buyer's remorse. I missed Gap's friends and family where they offered 30% off and I was feeling so strong, I skipped it. And now I feel sick thinking of the good deals I could have gotten!

Doing Good

Hello! I just want to say that I have not bought one thing for myself yet this month. I went to 2 showers this weekend, where I did buy each person a gift. I called Juan and said, I just ran in and out of Target without even looking for anything for myself, just bought a gift. And he said, yeah but you still bought something. That doesn't count, buying for others. Juan knows I'm going to crack any day now, but I'm feeling strong.

Life has been normal. This weekend I had Miriam's baby shower in the morning, and Manda's bridal shower in the afternoon. It was a packed day and so much fun. Saturday night we went out to dinner with my parents to Ottavio's. And then we went to the last byu basketball game of the season! After we met up with my brother Paul and his 3 boys and had ice cream. Sunday was my monthly family dinner, we stayed after and played Nertz which is a new favorite game of ours, although Juan is unbeatable. Anybody out there willing to challenge Juan and his big head?

Wisconsinbound!!!

Well not right this moment, but we have purchased our tickets for a big trip to Wisconsin in June! I am so excited to see the fam:

And celebrate the high school graduation of David (Juan's little brother):

(This is the closest I could find to a smile for him in pictures)

Juan's family lived close by us for a year and now live back in Wisconsin. We miss them! Juan especially misses David, they are really close and Juan misses having his best friend around. He is graduating and we are thrilled. He is so old now.

I am also DYING to see one of my closest friends Julaine and her new little girl:

I have these pictures on my work computer and open them a few times a day just to admire the preciousness.

Baby Addison- I'm trying to pull off the nickname Sonny for her, Julaine's not having it.

And let's not forget Jason (Julaine's husband), we are excited to see him too:

Just had to repost one of my favorite pictures of all time. Jason cracks us up!

It will be such a fun trip and I am so happy that I married someone from Wisconsin so I can go back and visit all my favorite spots from when I lived there for 3 years. It is so beautiful out there.

Mission Accomplished

Time to join Shopaholics Anonymous. Seriously. So the purse, pictured below, the one on my wish list from Target. I had a conversation with Juan. Do you think I should get the purse? Well $20 isn't going to put us in the hole, but it could be nice to save it, you decide. I'll get the purse and nothing else!

I enter the Target yesterday, and the purse is gone! That's ok, I just saw it online the day before, I'll order it online. Out of Stock online! The panic sets in. So I click, find in store. Out of Stock throughout Utah County. Then a glimmer of hope, limited availability in South Jordan. I text my sister Crystal, ask her if she can pick it up for me. Yes she can, she got it for me and is bringing it tonight. Phew!

The best part is I really do love the purse, but I thought it was just me who loved the purse. Then I saw that it was so popular and running out everywhere and that's when I HAD to have it. I'm a follower in that way I guess.

Month of March, I'm not buying one unnecessary item. I'll tell you how that goes...
