Oscar turned One!

 Oscar is 1!
Sometimes I feel like he is growing up and such a big boy, but most the time I feel like he is still my tiny baby and I'd like to keep him that way for a while.
Some fun things about Oscar: He just started walked along furniture and is really fast! Every time we set him down, he likes to be set down standing up, so I always put him down by the wall or a couch that he can grab on to.
He loves to crawl over the bar that is the bottom of our kitchen table and spends a lot of time under that table playing.
He goes through our cupboards, he beelines for the toilet or the trash can anytime he gets the chance. He dumps his sippy upside down and shakes it until milk drips all over.
He loves Mickey. He picked out this Mickey balloon at the grocery store. He saw a bunch of them up by the checkstand and did his monkey-like ooooo ooooo and pointed to the balloons. It was the day before his birthday, so we bought it for him.
He loves to play with the cars that you can pull back and then they take off. He can sometimes even get it to work, but spends a lot of time trying and not succeeding.
He has recently decided he hates riding in grocery carts and always tries to climb out and is very good at busting out of the grocery cart seat belts.
He plays peekaboo all the time. Anytime we say Where's Oscar? or Where's anything. I will say, where did you put your ball, and he covers his eyes thinking it is time to play peekaboo again.
He says Mamamamama for everything, anytime he needs anything. And it is almost always directed towards me, so I like to think he is saying my name.
He also puts his hands together for Slippery Fish and hums uh uh uh uh uh almost to the tune whenever he wants me to sing Slippery Fish to him.
He is so good at communicating. Today he wanted Juan to play this game with him where Juan pretends like Oscar bit his finger. So he went over to Juan and "bit" his own finger and then pointed to Juan's hand and waited for him to play.
We went out to Freddy's for dinner, our fave burger place.
And I made Oscar a fish cake that was so easy and cute.
The girls were so excited for his Birthday and to wear our party hats.
We sang Happy Birthday and tried to get him to blow out the candles because he really loves to blow on his food when it is hot.
He carefully dipped in his fingers and tried the frosting little by little. The girls were happy to help him.
This is him teasing Amelia, trying to touch her with his messy hands and she ran away saying, Oooh gross!

I had to force him to smash into the cake, but he was the one who smeared it all over his face and hair.

We let him take his time and then eventually he was practically begging me to get him cleaned up. He did not like being that messy.

 After bath, we opened presents!
 He got an elmo phone.
An airport track with 4 different cars from Grandma.

And a car ramp with Lightning McQueen and Mater from us. He was really excited about his new toys and hated when we'd pull him away to open the next present.

Here's the video of him ready to be cleaned up:

We just love having Oscar in our family. He is like his sisters in so many ways, and is just enough trouble to keep things exciting!

So much

We barely made Halloween this year. We have gone through a week full of exhausting parenting, complete with throwing up children and Juan and I getting sick at exactly the same time and the house completely falling apart for 24 hours where the kids lived off of Kix and milk. It was the worst week. But somehow we woke up Halloween morning and everyone was well and I had a surge of energy where I cleaned and bleached down my whole house and got everyone in costumes and out the door to the community Fall Fest that morning. And then trunk or treat and trick or treating after. We made it!

Amelia was my dedicated trick-or-treater this year, running from house to house.
Oscar as a puppy, can we discuss the cuteness?
We attended a murder mystery party where Juan and I dressed up at Ronald and Iguana Trump. Juan's comb over was all his genius plan.

The only picture with her witch hat on.

I lost Oscar one day and followed the muffled yells to find him inside the pantry, behind the door, inside this box.
The girls are sharing a room now! They are doing so well, I secretly got a video of Amelia "reading" books to Maya tonight. Precious moments.
 Pumpkin Patch with friends!

Oscar woke up from his nap with Frankenstein hair and Juan and I died laughing. Does his forehead end?

Halloween is over and we had a lovely day of recovery, and then went for a long walk at one of our new favorite places and basked in the 65 and sunny weather. I love Austin so much.
Oh my dear Kasee, you crack me up.

Oscar really loved the swing today. He cried the saddest cry each time we pulled him out. He was also very enthusiastic about the slide and the climbing slope thing. He always wants to join his sisters.
Miss Amelia sure loves her brother. Priceless blurry pictures.

And Oscar sure loves his ice cream. He screams constantly until we decide to cut him off and put in his binky and hide all signs of ice cream from him.

A good start to November.
