Celebrate the Weekend

Juan finished his finals last week so we had a weekend of CELEBRATING before he starts his independence study classes this week. This is how we celebrate.

With food!
Juan's favorite cake lately is Tres Leches. It was very interesting and difficult to make but it was SO DELICIOUS. If you have never had Tres Leches, order it at your local Mexican Restaurant pronto (even Cafe Rio has a good one). And if you love it like us, make a whole pan for yourselves! I just used the recipe on allrecipes.com.

We also celebrated by going to my nephew's play. This was Amelia the whole time in reaction to the loud music and clapping:
Fear and confusion mixed into one?

And we went on a shopping spree for our girl with the money my co-workers kindly gave us. Amelia is totally model-posing to show off her new clothes:

Such a fun and relaxing weekend! And seriously, go make that cake now. I can't stop thinking about it.

With such poise

Amelia tried tummy time for the first time the other day and was so calm and collected:

But within a few minutes she was over it! Such a sad video.

Millie is a working girl

Watching me work

Only at BYU does everyone ask, "where's your baby?" I love my job, love that they are thrilled when I bring Amelia to work with me. If only Amelia were just as thrilled. She was an angel on the first day of work. She just sat and watched me. I wish I could say the same for days 2, 3, and 4. She wasn't having it.

The girl just needs stability.

Patiently chilling in my arms while I work (day 1)

Juan has 1 more final left and then he'll be able to be home with her all day every day. She's been doing great considering the amount we run around with her. She sleeps 2 big chunks during the night, so I only have to wake up once. She gives us smiles and chuckles all the time, although I'm not sure she knows she is doing it yet.

As for me, I'm making it. Life is busy with work and a baby, like working 2 full time jobs at least. I am going to make a major countdown. As of today I have 6 weeks 1 day left of work. I can do it. I am adjusting to post-baby life. It feels nice to have an extended wardrobe again, I forgot what that was like. I have too many clothes:

Oh and this is a good one. What's the worst thing you can hear 4 weeks after you had a baby?

"So when are you due?"

Sad. I just had to laugh it off.

Blessed Baby

Juan blessed our sweet baby on Sunday. She was wide awake and reverent during the blessing, just staring up at her dad the whole time. Thank you to everyone who came to experience her special day.

Her dress is so beautiful.

I used to make fun of new mothers. I thought they should all chill out, right? Not anymore. The number one thing I have learned as a new mother is to Trust in the Lord. I worry about everything and anything that I cannot control concerning Amelia. And I just have to remember to have trust in the Lord that He will take care of us. He loves our little family just as dearly as we love each other.

Ginger's Visit

My sister Ginger came to visit from Boston to meet little Amelia. We have had such a fun visit! She brought Amelia this little bear that she made. I just love it and as you can tell from the photo below, Amelia is very slowly warming to Mr Bear.
We've been gradually making visits out of the house, here is Amelia with her Grandma. We also made our first trip out to Target on Saturday. She slept through her first official outing, but I saw her peek at some purses as we passed that aisle. Like mother like daughter.
Here's my gorgeous girl with her dad. I adore this picture.
And Happy Easter to everyone! The Easter bunny visited our house and brought Juan and me some yummy snacks, and Amelia got a Dora book and a new outfit! She looks thrilled about it.
