Provo to Denver

The last week has been a whirlwind.

Wednesday: My last day of work.

No more time cut short with this little girl.

Thursday: We cleaned and moved clear out of our beloved apartment in Provo. Pictures unrelated, but cute.

Thursday we also said good bye to family and friends.

Friday: Our big road trip. Estimated 8 hours with no stops. Juan was determined to get there in the 8 hours. Yeah right, not with a 3 month old. She was so good the first 5 hour stretch, slept the whole time. Then we stopped for 1 hour, she was just having so much fun laying out and kicking and stretching. The last 2 hours of the trip she was a fussy girl, but calmed down once we put kid music on. She just sat and listened, so cute.

Saturday and Sunday were spent unpacking, organizing our new home, and getting to know the area.

Monday: The day we've all been waiting for. My first day as a stay-at-home mom, Juan's first day at his internship. I should have gotten a picture of Juan, he looks so good in his work clothes.

Tuesday: We hosted my sister Crystal and her husband and little boy. We spent the day hanging out downtown Denver.

We hit up 16th street mall and ate at Hard Rock Cafe.

And today: We are back to hanging out. We had to borrow the swing, pack n play, and stroller from our friend Alyson in Denver for the summer. Everything else we fit in our car, packed it to the brim. Thank you Alyson, you're a lifesaver.

And Millie still is not holding up her head. Not even trying. To her defense, her head is big, in the 90th percentile. Any suggestions on getting this girl to try some head lifts?

Ode to Provo

Oh Provo, how we will miss you. We leave in 9 days and there is not even enough time to soak in all the love we have for Provo and cherish it. Here are some things we will miss:

1. The people. The old friends. The new friends we met who have already moved on. And the current friends we will leave behind.








2. The 1 bedroom apartment that we lived in all 4 1/2 years of our marriage. And Amelia's first home.






3. The ward.

4. BYU campus.



5. Mountains so close. And gorgeous scenery.




6. The Brick Oven chicken noodle soup.

7. Joe Vera's.

8. Walks in downtown Provo.

9. Sitting on the grass behind Provo temple.

10. The drive to Target along University Ave.

11. 7 Eleven being packed at midnight on weekends.

Provo has treated us well. Juan will be back to BYU in the fall, but we will not be living in Provo. So this is good bye.

Amelia is 2 Months!

Amelia weighs in at 12 lbs 1 oz (82nd percentile) and is 24 inches long (95th percentile). She smiles all the time, especially right when she wakes up in the mornings and right after she eats. And this morning I said good bye and she smiled and gave me a coo sound as if to say good bye right back. Melts my heart.
She loves to be at home. We'll get home after a long day and she'll be so happy to be back to her spot on the couch. She'll kick and grin. She falls asleep anytime we go out to a restaurant or the store. We tease that she is just faking asleep and maybe has social anxiety! Ha ha. For now we'll enjoy our angel girl when she is in public.
She eats and sleeps like a dream. She gets through a full feeding in 10 minutes tops. And that lasts her a full 3 hours. She must be efficient because she is definitely growing! She sleeps for a 6 hour chunk at night, followed by another 3 hour chunk. And she falls asleep even when we put her down when she is wide awake. She recognizes that it's night and that's her cue to drift off to sleep.

She is still a daddy's girl. She misses him the very few times he's away from her. She literally looks around for him and then cries. And Juan spoils me, I went almost all weekend without changing one diaper. I must brag.

And I am cherishing every moment I have with her. Sometimes I won't put her down and I just let her take her naps in my arms. Time is zooming by too quickly! She will soon not be considered a newborn (does that happen at 3 months? Don't tell me if it's happened already, I need her to still be a newborn).

Daydreaming with Google Maps

Did you know there is a little yellow guy on google maps that you can drag onto the map and he will show the street view? Juan and I had so much fun when we found this yellow guy. We looked at all our old houses and tried to zoom in on the pictures to see if we could see people (didn't work, just got more blurry, and yes we are creepers).

We are headed to Denver this summer. Juan has another internship with Pricewaterhouse Coopers. I have been looking at our condo on google maps. It is so nice! And it has a pool and very nice grassy areas and sidewalks for lots of long walks. I have walked the yellow guy to the library, the church, the Target all from our condo. It is getting me giddy!

Denver holds a special place in our heart. It is in Denver that we found out we were pregnant last year. On Juan's birthday no less!

Freaky Friday

Role reversal. Me and Juan.

I am working. He is the Stay-at-homer.

There are the frustrations:

I get home, wiped out from my early morning and full day of work.

Juan greets me, himself exhausted from a super well-behaved baby who just still needs some love and attention every oh, 5 minutes or so.

There are the utter joys:

I get home to a girl who is beaming to see me. She smiles and snuggles and plays.

Juan doesn't miss a beat. He sends picture after picture of a funny face, or a sneeze, or he tells me about a funny noise she made.

We both have times where we think, if the other only knew how good this is, or if the other only knew how difficult.

Guess what? I will know! And so will he!

Is this the solution to being more understanding with each other? When I get my dream job of staying home with my baby in just 3 1/2 weeks (YAY!), will we get to look at each other and just know how the other is feeling?

I hope we remember this short time. And cherish the good and the difficult. In the meantime, this girl and this father are having too much fun together:
