Sleepy Girl

Our big event out today was getting pictures taken by our friend Kayla. These are just a few of the pictures and they turned out SO GOOD. Amelia behaved like a pro, constantly in pose mode.

I think she looks like me in this one.

She slept through the whole photo shoot and would not wake up no matter what we tried. We took this picture literally 1 minute after we got home. Wide awake, the girl cooperates on her own time table folks.

Legally Blonde The Musical

Last night I said good bye to this little girl:
And left her with this stud:
And went out on the town with these ladies:
We saw Legally Blonde: The Musical at Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake and it was such a fun night out! We first went out to dinner at Gecko's with everyone, Juan even came while my mom watched the baby. When I told Juan about this play a few months ago he said, yeah I think I could make it that night. And I said, uh sorry, you're not invited, it's a sister thing. Poor guy! Juan hates musicals, but he does love to experience things I love with me. Next time! He had fun with Amelia and they bonded on their night together.
The play was SO MUCH FUN. It was hilarious and entertaining every second. Crystal, Heather, and I all knew the music from watching the MTV series The Search for the Next Elle Woods a few years back. Ha ha, we bonded over our MTV watching.

Sunday

What a beautiful Sunday afternoon. We stayed inside today because Millie is only 10 days old and we want to keep her protected from outside germs for a few weeks. We dressed her up anyway and did a photo shoot. She is so precious, and I love her whispy, just-washed hair.
The day we left the hospital was last week on Sunday. Some people from church came in to share the sacrament. As they blessed the sacrament, tears just started flowing out of me. Life is different now, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. I have been blessed and trusted with a beautiful baby. Everything spiritual is seen in a new light. I have an eternal perspective that reaches beyond Juan and me. It includes our little girl. Our whole little family.
We've been home for a week now and it has just flown by. She is a sleeper and an eater. I had a diet coke one evening and it kept her up all night. She's not like her mom in that sense, caffeine doesn't keep me awake. She is a daddy's girl through and through, she loves to snuggle up to dad. Even today she was smiling for him and so I wanted a picture. She looked up and saw me with the camera and made a squinty face. Such a smart girl, she was bracing herself for the flash!
Here she is with dad.

And she loves mom too. Here we are in our St Patrick's day green.

Alternate Reality

I seriously feel like I'm living some dream life that for so long I thought would never come true. We are living this whirlwind and taking it in stride and basically staring at our sweet girl every chance we get.

First ride home.

First bath. She didn't love it.

But she was a happy girl after.

And again, not so happy. But check out that adorable outfit!

And here she is, waving good bye.

The Fun Has Arrived!

I went in for a check up on Thursday, the 11th and they ended up admitting me to the hospital. More than a few hours later (or more than 20 hours later) we delivered miss Amelia Rose. Here are a few pictures:

She is 8 lbs 12 oz and 22 1/2 inches long! That's a long baby, she was longer than the ruler on the scale! She has tons and tons of beautiful black hair, courtesy of her dad. We are just loving her.

My Saturday

I had such good intentions to take a picture of all my fun activities Saturday, but that did not happen.

My saturday started off with a long walk with Miriam. The intent was to force myself into labor. Did not work people, no baby yet. I was so amazed at my energy at the beginning of the walk, and then poor Miriam could have crawled beside me by the end and still gone faster!

Then I finished off the final touches of my apartment. EVERYTHING is clean and organized. I am not a clean freak, but I will be the next few days. I don't know if I've ever had the apartment this clean, so I will try my hardest to keep it at its best for my baby girl. I'm completely packed for the hospital and all of those supplies are piled up behind the front door, not to be forgotten.

In the afternoon, I got a pedicure with my good friend Amanda! It was so fun to be pampered.

Saturday night, Juan and I went to Leatherby's for dinner, and to Alice In Wonderland with my sister and her husband. Remember this? Well again folks, no baby here yet. So please unmark my words on that one. As for the movie review. Absolutely LOVED it. I smiled the whole time and it was the perfect combination of happy, bizarre, and creepy.

Juan, Cami, Crystal, Judson, and Darren at Leatherby's.

And here I am just this very morning. 40 weeks pregnant.

Thoughts as my due date nears

The positive ones:

No back aches. I've been sleeping like a dream. I've still been working full time and my work is so flexible, I sleep in a few times a week which is wonderful. No major discomforts, the evenings are the worst and not even that bad.

The outlook is that she's going to come late, I can do this pregnancy thing for a week extra.

The negative ones:

She is soooo going to be 13 pounds. Every doctor tells me, that's a good-sized baby in there!

Also, I have a co-worker who is nasty sick right now. I told Juan last night that if I get his sickness, I am so going to egg his house. In which Juan replied, adults don't threaten things like that anymore.

What I'll be doing to induce labor:

Nothing crazy here. I'm not quite ready for some herbal treatment or anything like that. I'll be walking stairs 2 at a time. I'll be bouncing on my exercise ball while I watch tv. I already had a talk with the babe and welcomed her into the world. Yes a website mentioned babies were just waiting on their welcome, thought that was hilarious and could totally see my little girl pulling attitude like that.

5 more days until due date, my guess still stands at 9 more days to March 12. The latest I'd be induced is March 15. So 12 more days at the most!
