Amelia's new bed

I told you we were furnishing this house! Amelia recently got a new bed, and Maya got a matching one too for when she is ready to move on from the crib. We got Amelia's all set up and I got my quilt that I had been waiting to go on sale. I think it is so cute and she is so happy to sleep in her bed each night. Today when I woke her up from nap she said, I stayin in my bed, I love my room.

Because Maya's cute when she sleeps too.

Amelia and I have been having some pretty awesome conversations lately. Just today when she broke her sunglasses she said, "They very special to me mommy. Because you gave them to me. I very sad."

And we were at the church for a minute tonight and talking about some pictures of Jesus on the wall. She said, "Jesus helps me and He protects me". And I said, Yes Heavenly Father and Jesus are always there to watch over you and protect you. And then she said, "Yeah and Santa too!" Hmm Santa is kind of in a different category, haha.

New Couch

We got a new couch! We've been wanting something to fill our family room a little more and so we saved up for a sectional. It is amazing, so comfortable and we love it.

We also had a wonderful Labor Day! We went on a picnic in the morning and it was just the best time!

And more dress up pictures. I just die from the cuteness.

And Maya and her Bunny Sadie. She just loves this bunny and plays with it all day. And is this not the sweetest picture of Miss Maya?

Glass Slippers

A little while back, Amelia saw these glass slippers at the store. She instantly fell in love and had to have them. She didn't even say her normal, I ask Santa for this. She carried them around the store and then reluctantly set them by the candy bars as I checked out. There were tears.

So we got home and made a sticker chart. She has been having a hard time going to bed at night and just generally being obedient. So every time she stayed in her room for naps or bedtime, she got a sticker. And every time she said, Yes Mom and was obedient right away, she got a sticker too.
It took a couple weeks, but finally the chart was filled! She was so proud. And she insisted Daddy go with her to the store to get her Glass Slippers.
And lucky enough, the Cinderella shoes were on a great sale, so we got to pick out some Belle shoes too so that Maya can play dress up as well. I have too much fun buying these cute things for my girls, especially when they play with them non-stop and can Maya get any cuter?
She loves to click around the kitchen in them.

We had a rainy day this week where we ate lunch outside as it poured rain around us. It was so much fun!

 Maya and her big eyes.

We have been having some slow summer days. Most days are really great with the girls playing together for long periods of time and just being more independent. Some days (like today) are filled with mischievous Amelia and lots of frustration on my part. And Juan coming home to a wife who is trying not to be a complete, needy mess. And yes, we are adding another one in just 2 1/2 months! Yikes people.

Vacation!!!

We went to Utah for our first Family Reunion on my side! We figured it was time, with 18 grand-kids and a few of us scattered over the country. It was such a fun trip to see nieces and nephews who are almost adults now and just catch up with everyone. We loved seeing Amelia play with her cousins and she seems like such a big kid keeping up with all of them.

First day was Lagoon! That is Utah's very own amusement park.

Amelia went on all the kiddie rides, even the roller coasters and the kid equivalent of the giant drop! She was so gutsy, it was so fun to see.

Maya and I watching on the side (photo bombed by Ginger). We weren't always this happy to be just watching.

Here's Maya in super pout mode. She really didn't like missing out on the rides.

Day 2 was family picture day! My parents, their 7 children, spouses, 18 grandchildren. Yeah it was chaos. We are still waiting to see how they turned out.

But didn't I get the best ever last minute romper for Maya? Bought this day-of, it is the cutest thing.

Sister hug.

Our whole family at Lagoon, we all wore the matching t-shirts. It was pretty awesome.

Juan looking thrilled.

And the sister pic.

A visit with my dear friend Margarita.

And Mill chillin' with the big kids.

Not pictured: We saw Miriam and her beautiful family and new house! We missed seeing Andrea, we were all set up for a Sunday breakfast and then Matt got sick :( We ate at Cafe Rio of course and had a bbq at Paul and Rachelle's on Sunday, their backyard is amazing. And we did a lot of sitting around and talking, just how I like it.

It is already mid-August! It was a great final summer trip. We are getting ready to start up a pre-school co-op. I am stalking Craig's list for a bunk bed for the girls, and we have a few more boxes to organize and put into storage before the baby comes. Which is 3 months away! Time is flying!

Obsessions

Amelia Learning
She has been so good at coloring and drawing lately. And she is obsessed with letters. She will come running in and say, Mommy I found the letter for Daddy's name, a big hook! And I said, yeah which letter? and reminded her it is J. And she said, yeah J for Daddy! Almost... It is so fun to have her showing interest and saying, what's that letter? when we are out and about. She was not interested for a while. And still has no interest whatsoever with numbers, but we are learning a lot of letters!

These girls playing together
They are so good with each other. If I have the playroom semi-tidy, they will play up there together for long amounts of time! And if Maya isn't following Amelia, she gets really upset and tries to force Maya to play. There are screams here and there, but mostly they are best friends.

Craigslist
This is my obsession people. And I have to ban myself from it. When I am on the search for something, I literally cannot sleep. I am just thinking about if the people will email me back or maybe it already sold. It is not healthy. But I have sure got some pretty good deals.

All this for $25. The scooter and the bike are basically brand new, for $10 a piece! And Amelia is getting really good at the scooter and just figured out how to (slowly) pedal her big bike! I am so proud.

And this table? Got it at a garage sale with 6 chairs, for $50! The only garage sale I've been to in months. It was meant for us :) I really love it. It is gigantic, with the leaf we could easily fit 10 around it. It was so nice to trade in our tiny table with mismatched chairs/folding chairs.

Maya is growing up
She is growing up too fast! She kicked the binky last week, poor girl had some pretty intense sob sessions where I almost gave in. And she has gone peepee on the potty a few times! I really don't want to potty train her this early, but she has shown signs of asking to get her diaper changed even in the middle of the night, and I thought I'd just let her know she has other options if she so chooses. She has asked for the potty by herself, once after a bath. And it was awesome. But that was it. So I'll just let her take the lead on that one, the girl is only 18 months.

Amelia's sleep
Amelia naps every day and is very obedient at night. She stays upstairs after we put her down and she doesn't get into anything. But she has been in the habit of falling asleep in the hallway right outside her door. She will move herself back to her bed about 10 pm or whenever she realizes a bed is much more comfy.

 Maya saying I Yuv Ooo
Maya melts our hearts by saying I love you now. It is the cutest thing you will ever hear, so I captured it on video!
