Putting the Camera to Use

I go on and off with using my camera, and lately I haven't been using it ever! So this weekend I decided to pull it out. On Friday Juan and I went to Red Lobster for dinner and we were going to go home and watch a movie, but it was so nice out that we decided to watch the movie on our portable dvd player outside. We watched The Eye. Scary movie. I wanted to do a scary movie because it was Friday the 13th but this movie definitely decided that I can't handle scary movies! I wasn't particularly scared, but I was in a bad mood the rest of the night with a scowl on my face and Juan kept asking if I was mad at him but I was just feeling icky from being scared for 2 hours. It's not a super dark or satanic movie in case any of you want to see it ps, I'm just retarded.

Juan and I attempted to hike the Y on Saturday night. I have been exercising like crazy the last 2 weeks so I thought, I'll be in shape enough to tackle this. I have done it probably 5 times before and I remember it being really hard (I realize many of you probably think that hike is a piece of cake, whatev) but I thought I could handle it this time. No-siree. We both almost died! It could have been that it was the end of the night or that our Cafe Rio dinner was weighing us down. So we didn't make it all the way, but I got some beautiful pictures!

We have gone through a rough last few months and Juan has been more than supportive. I got home on Thursday from a particularly boring day at work and I was really missing my friends who have recently moved and I was just feeling a little down, and here were some roses from my wonderful husband. I started crying I was so happy. And I'm not a crier, so Juan really got the timing right and I love him so much.

Movie Reviews

What Happens in Vegas
My Romantic Comedy hatred has been redeemed! I really enjoyed What Happens in Vegas starring Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher. It was funny and their chemistry was a lot of fun, and they didn't drag on the whole "something bad happens that makes it seemingly impossible for them to be together" bit. The show is reminiscent of Just Married starring Ashton and Brittany Murphy. They spend most the time hating each other and trying to make each other miserable. I guess I just love that type of comedy. Ha ha, I definitely recommend it.

Funny Face
I have wanted to see this movie for a while. I've always seen clips of Audrey Hepburn's crazy dance and then of course Lorelai Gilmore loves it on Gilmore Girls. And what Lorelai loves, I love. It is a great movie! There is a lot of dancing since Fred Astaire is the male lead, and so with the dancing is singing. I wouldn't call it a musical though. I'm not a huge fan of dancing movies, but the actors are so charming that I just felt so good throughout the whole movie.

Vacuum Queen

Now I'm not a cleaner (unfortunately) and I do not love vacuums like some. Our good friends Aaron and Rachelle just got a new vacuum and Aaron got it for Rachelle as a gift. I would be livid if Juan got me a vacuum as a gift (I'm not a feminist, I just love to love my gifts). Rachelle was ecstatic. She loved it and used it right away and when we went over, she brought it out to show us! She was hilarious and I thought, I could never love a vacuum that much. Well I got a referral from Rachelle on what vacuum they got so we could go out and buy a new vacuum this weekend, and guess what, I love it! Once we finally got it assembled, I spent the rest of the night vacuuming the whole apartment and doing the couches, and the dust on the fan. I went all out and I feel like it's the first time in the 2 1/2 years that our apartment has had clean floors! Our old vacuum that came with the furnished apartment just spit out dust and made everything smell. Now I feel like when I clean, it actually shows results. I may even become a cleaner now!

Memorial Day sweet treat

Not only do I love memorial day because I get a long weekend, but I also get a short work week! Love it. We had a fabulous extended weekend. On Friday Juan and I had a date night, out to dinner then for a drive. Saturday we spent at my parents playing games and chatting with everyone. And then Monday we went to my parents again for a barbecue. Ginger is in town babysitting Paul and Rachelle's kids, so we always go to my parents a lot when people are in town visiting. I slept in way too much each weekend day and ended up have creepy dreams. I had a full on nightmare on Sunday night. It makes me never want to sleep in again! It rained all weekend and I absolutely loved it, and now the weather is back to sunny which is also nice. I went out and bought a basket for my bike today just because I need a place to put some things. The only basket at walmart was a pretty little white one with flowers, so basically my bike looks like it belongs to a little girl, but I don't mind! Today I am kicking it into gear and going back to the gym regularly (it's been a while) and I'm just going to exercise again because it makes me feel good. I love how the sunny, warm weather gets me motivated about life.

I'm a Comma!

My sister had this on her blog so I just had to try it out. It was hard to answer the questions because there were only a few so I had to be very honest with myself. Ha ha!

You Are a Comma

You are open minded and extremely optimistic.

You enjoy almost all facets of life. You can find the good in almost anything.

You keep yourself busy with tons of friends, activities, and interests.

You find it hard to turn down an opportunity, even if you are pressed for time.

Your friends find you fascinating, charming, and easy to talk to.

(But with so many competing interests, you friends do feel like you hardly have time for them.)

You excel in: Inspiring people

You get along best with: The Question Mark

Track Meets Over

My job is generally pretty relaxed (which is why I can blog while at work) but the last few months have been crazy because our department was in charge of BYU High School Track Invitational and we also hosted the High School State Meet. They both are huge events and I envy all event planners and all those small details they have to deal with. Since I am not in an interview, I will go ahead and admit that I am not detail-oriented. Blah, I like to look at the whole picture and just assume everything will work out. So besides all the busy work days of preparation for the meets, I also had to work both meets. I recruited Juan to come and work with me and we had fun as co-workers. We were in charge of getting lunches and snacks to all 200 employees, so Juan had fun driving the golf cart around as if he were playing real life Mariokart as he describes it. He just needed some banana peels. The first of the two weekends I got super sun burned, my poor pale skin. It was extremely painful and so by the second meet, I refused to leave the food tent and sent Juan out on all the deliveries. Now I am back to being caught up on normal life like my celebrity gossip and tv blogs. Love it.

Rom-Coms

What has happened to Romantic Comedies, or rather what has happened to me? I think part of it is that Juan happened to me. We were watching Dan in Real Life a few weeks back and within the first 15 minutes of the movie, Juan was like, this is what's going to happen and of course he was right. Now I know you can do that with many romantic comedies, but that was a genuinely good, fun movie and he ruined it for me. We just watched 27 Dresses this weekend and I hated it. Absolutely repulsed me and made me want to give up romantic comedies for good. Not original, predictable, and don't even get me started on how Katherine Heigl thinks that just because she did Knocked Up and 27 Dresses that now she is too good for Grey's Anatomy. I hope she leave Grey's Anatomy and ends up bombing in movies too. That will teach her to abandon what made her. Baby Mama was a romantic comedy, but it was original and laugh out loud funny and it was Tina Fey. So here is my predicament, if I give up romantic comedies all together trying to avoid suffering through another 27 Dresses, will I miss the Baby Mamas, While You Were Sleepings, and Runaway Brides?
