And he's finally back

I tried to stay cryptic here on the blog for my safety, but let's back up a few months.

Back in April, we found out that Juan scored an awesome accounting internship with Pricewaterhouse Coopers. He is ridiculously amazing and I am so proud of him. The internship was to be in Denver June-August, 8 weeks.

I work full time at BYU, in which our family insurance is included, not to mention it is not realistic to quit such a great job in this economy. We were not in the position where I could go with him to Denver.

For the past 8 weeks we have been living in 2 different states! We are blessed enough to have been able to see each other every weekend but one that we were apart. We had our adventures in Denver, and Juan visited here for the 4th of July, and also SURPRISED me on my family vacation up in the mountains. As in he showed up at the pool while I was there babysitting my nephew on a Friday night, and I didn't even notice him until he was 12 inches away from me. I was so shocked! It also helped that Juan loved the internship and all his co-workers and supervisors were so welcoming and kind, and he loved the atmosphere of the Denver office.

Fast forward to today- we made it. Back together again. I love our normal life. I love sitting around doing nothing with Juan. I am not the fantastic traveler, zooming off every weekend. I'd take the living room of our one-bedroom apartment any night of the week over the glamour and glitz of going out on the town.

Welcome home Juan!

For all those who are just as crazy...

Yesterday at church, I spotted Candace with this beauty:

I of course, being the crazy I am, tracked her down and asked her where she got it (the color is better in real life). She said Target, of course. So me and another girl joked and said we will be at Target bright and early the next morning in the purse section.

Except I wasn't joking.

And neither was she.

9 am today I am browsing the purse section at Target, and what do you know, there's Ashley too!

Yes we are crazies. And yes, I am now the proud owner of this:

Blogger's Block

I am so not into Blogging right now, but yet here I am.

I do want to review my most recent read, Hunger Games.

Loved it.

It is young adult fiction which I love because they are easy reads, and always relatively clean so I don't get a surprise (like I did in a recent Jodi Picoult book, which I won't be reading her anymore. She gets vulgar for no necessary reason, ick.)

It is about a future society where The Capitol always wants to make sure the surrounding towns know they are in The Capitol's control, so they hold the Hunger Games yearly. They hat-pick a boy and a girl from each town, between 12-18 years old and these 24 kids go and fight in an arena to the death. Yes they fight until they are the only ones living. It does sound violent I agree, but it was such a good book and I could not put it down. The story is very unique and I'm not a writer, so I don't know about writing techniques or anything, just that I was pulled in and enthralled. That's good writing to me.

Harry Potter Marathon

I am not as huge a fan of Harry Potter as some people, but I have read all the books once over the course of years and years. And I enjoy the movies. Juan borrowed the movies from our friends a little while ago and got all caught up during his semester breaks. Turns out he really loves the series! Too bad he's not a reader.

Sunday we had a big Harry Potter marathon and watched 2-5. We skipped the first movie because of time and because it's pretty basic and easy to remember. Then Monday night we went out to dinner and to the new movie Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. We both loved it! It was confusing at parts though. I think the movie took too much liberty in assuming we've all read the books. I read the book a while ago so my memory didn't hold up. But I just love how well the movies are made and how entertaining, regardless of the confusing parts.

Here we are at the theater. I just love how excited we are, like we're ready to go on a roller coaster or something!

My favorite people right now

Seriously I am 10 years late on this, but I have been watching The West Wing from Netflix and I am loving it! Every singly character is my favorite (besides Toby for some reason). It is such a good show. I cried on the season 2 opener and I am basically hooked. And an added bonus, it makes me feel smart to watch it. Did anyone else watch?

The 4th

I was so happy that Juan and I both had the 3rd of July off work. We spent the day lounging around, getting errands done, and we walked down to the duck pond and played with Juan's new remote control car. It says land/water on the package, but I was very afraid to put it in water. Juan did it anyway, it stayed afloat for a few seconds, then wheels started to spin and it started to sink. We decided that it just means it is water-proof. Regardless it is pretty sweet and I am proud of my purchase.

Ha ha this picture cracks me up. Juan posing with his new toy.

Quick pic at the park.

Friday night we went to Trafalga. We were last at Trafalga probably 2 years ago with Craig and Lorel and we loved it. I always want to go back and we finally did! We went mini golfing and to the batting cages. I lost mini golf by 1 point. I was pround of my skills. We went with our good friends Amanda and Brian.

Our photo shoot at the batting cages, yes we are nerds.

Saturday we spent at my parents house. We bbqed and played games. Thanks to m&d for letting us crash their house while they were out of town.

Picture a little blurry courtesy of my niece Sami (8 years old), the photographer.

My husband, the genius

Congratulations to Juan who has just been accepted into the BYU Accounting Program!
