The big event here has been moving Amelia to her Big Girl bed. And I mean a really big bed, she moved straight into a queen-sized bed.
Last time in her crib. Kind of a bitter sweet day for me.
Before bedtime on Friday, we all put on her new bedding. I just kept telling her that it was for her new bed and that she was going to be such a big girl. She would get excited and kept climbing up onto the bed while we were making it. We went through the exact same bedtime routine, and she had her same babies and blankets.
Amelia trying out her new bed.
Night 1: Juan laid her down and walked out. We watched through the baby monitor as Amelia climbed down right away and cried at the door (she can't open doors yet). She cried for maybe 60 seconds, and then climbed up onto her new bed and into her spot. She tossed and turned until she fell asleep and slept the whole night, waking up about a half hour early the next morning. Not bad.
Night 2: We shut her door when we put her down, but cracked it open once we went to bed for the night. I thought she should be able to get to us if she needed. Well she woke up at midnight, I put her right back down with no problems, door still cracked. She wakes again at 4 am, Juan puts her back down, door still cracked. 4:30 am Juan wakes me to tell me Amelia is playing at her table in the kitchen. She happily runs in, asking for crayons so she can color. Juan puts her back down again, this time door closed. She cries for 3 minutes by the door, crawls back into bed, and finally falls back asleep.
Night 3: Door closed the whole night, she slept all the way through the night and woke up at 6:30. Juan went in to tell her it was too early, she tried to go back asleep for another 45 minutes until she tried again and we let her wake up. I suspect she checked the door a few times during the night from the way she was all over the bed in the video monitor, but never cried, just found that it was closed and went right back to sleep.
Overall, pretty easy transition. Her naps have all gone flawlessly, although her first nap she pointed to her crib and cried, wanting to go back to it. Sorry girl, Maya will be needing that crib in a month or so.
In other news, I've been doing Amelia's hair in a pony tail. And she looks so big!
And Maya is smiling! She is just so funny.
We can always get a smile out of her right after she eats. She is just the cutest.
And Amelia wanted in on smiling for the camera too. She's so pretty.
