The Girls

The big event here has been moving Amelia to her Big Girl bed. And I mean a really big bed, she moved straight into a queen-sized bed.

Last time in her crib. Kind of a bitter sweet day for me.

Before bedtime on Friday, we all put on her new bedding. I just kept telling her that it was for her new bed and that she was going to be such a big girl. She would get excited and kept climbing up onto the bed while we were making it. We went through the exact same bedtime routine, and she had her same babies and blankets.
Amelia trying out her new bed.

Night 1: Juan laid her down and walked out. We watched through the baby monitor as Amelia climbed down right away and cried at the door (she can't open doors yet). She cried for maybe 60 seconds, and then climbed up onto her new bed and into her spot. She tossed and turned until she fell asleep and slept the whole night, waking up about a half hour early the next morning. Not bad.

Night 2: We shut her door when we put her down, but cracked it open once we went to bed for the night. I thought she should be able to get to us if she needed. Well she woke up at midnight, I put her right back down with no problems, door still cracked. She wakes again at 4 am, Juan puts her back down, door still cracked. 4:30 am Juan wakes me to tell me Amelia is playing at her table in the kitchen. She happily runs in, asking for crayons so she can color. Juan puts her back down again, this time door closed. She cries for 3 minutes by the door, crawls back into bed, and finally falls back asleep.

Night 3: Door closed the whole night, she slept all the way through the night and woke up at 6:30. Juan went in to tell her it was too early, she tried to go back asleep for another 45 minutes until she tried again and we let her wake up. I suspect she checked the door a few times during the night from the way she was all over the bed in the video monitor, but never cried, just found that it was closed and went right back to sleep.

Overall, pretty easy transition. Her naps have all gone flawlessly, although her first nap she pointed to her crib and cried, wanting to go back to it. Sorry girl, Maya will be needing that crib in a month or so.

In other news, I've been doing Amelia's hair in a pony tail. And she looks so big!

And Maya is smiling! She is just so funny.
We can always get a smile out of her right after she eats. She is just the cutest.

And Amelia wanted in on smiling for the camera too. She's so pretty.

Our Utah Trip

We had the best 5 days in Utah. My sister Ginger and her husband Sam also came into town from South Dakota, so it was a party! She also announced that she is pregnant, 16 weeks now, which is just the best news!!! Amelia was obsessed with her cousins and did not skip a beat, from the second she walked in the house she was chasing Barrett and Judson around and wouldn't even stop to say hi to us. It was so fun to see her with all of her cousins. Maya was held at all times and everyone was just in love with her. We went out to eat and had a girls night and sat around talking a lot and played a few games. Juan and I got away for a few dates even. And now please take in all the pictures:

Cousin Barrett. He is just the cutest, he loved Maya and kept asking me why she didn't play with toys.

Aren't these the best pictures? It doesn't snow in Texas.

Barrett finally forced her into playing with this toy, ha ha!

The one time that Maya was not being held.

And Amelia did take time out for sister time. Even if she looks less than thrilled, she really adores Maya.

This sums up our plane rides. Amelia either slept or watched a movie. Maya was a dream baby as always.

It really was the best trip. And now it's good to be home. My Maya baby has been sleeping 6-7 hour stretches for me consistently. She is just so sweet. And I got some smiling pictures today that I'll have to share next post! Amelia slept like a dream while we were sharing a room in Utah and she adjusted back to Austin time without a hitch. She's so chill and easy. We are blessed with good babies over here.

Getting Out

We had our first night out on the town. Remember how Juan got us tickets to Wicked for Christmas? At the time, I was a little nervous, knowing I'd be leaving my 3 week baby. But let me tell you, it was perfect timing, I needed to get out. And once again, our friends were so kind to babysit and I didn't worry one bit about Maya, who drank her bottle with no problem. And Amelia was so good as always, she is so good with babysitters.

And Wicked! It was so amazing. We went with Kasee and Jason, and we first stopped at Jasper's for dinner. Everything was amazingly delicious. It was so much fun to sit and chat.

I had seen Wicked once before in Salt Lake. And this was just as good! Elphaba's part, isn't it just the best? I wanted to cry, her voice was so good. This was Juan's first time seeing it, he knows the music just because I listen to it so much. He really enjoyed it, and Juan is not a lover of musicals. He does love seeing them Live though.

Maya with her first babysitter, Steph. (Sorry, I don't want to deal with rotating this pic.)
And of course, I have many more pictures to share! I can't get enough of the photo shoots with my sweet girls.

I was terrified of getting out of the house with these 2 girls. Our first trip to the grocery store was a success! Yes it was a 2 hour event, but the girls were so well-behaved. Yay!

Maya's first bath in her tub.

Those cheeks!

She is so pretty.

This is what happens when Amelia has to lay on my lap to drink her milk, and Maya was crying. So Maya ended up on Amelia's lap, and Maya's face became Amelia's focus. She usually rubs my arm when she drinks her milk. Cute moment.

And next up, Utah! We are finally going to visit family. I'm so excited for everyone to meet Maya.
